Paid Bed Rolls Facility in Sleeper

If everything works fine soon Passenger can buy bedroll in sleeper class also in Long distance Trains.This will have also Online facility via IRCTC website.The facility will be introduced on a trial basis  this month at four stations i.e New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and Mumbai Central. Passengers will also have the option to order bedrolls at the IRCTC-run food counters at stations.Passenger can also purchase them from the IRCTC’s vending units at the station.
Passengers can avail this facility by paying Rs 140 for two bed sheets and a pillow and Rs 110 for a blanket. These can be purchased together at a cost of Rs 250 or can be purchased separately.Passengers can take the bedrolls home.
Presently, only AC coaches have free bedroll facility. But now, passengers in sleeper coaches will also have the option to purchase takeaway bedroll kits at a concessional price. AC coach passengers can also choose to purchase a fresh bedroll kit if they want.

No more HALF TICKET in Indian Railways

Coming from April 2016,Railway will not have Half ticket provision for children from age group 5-12.,Till now, children aged 5-12 were entitled for a separate seat or berth at half the fare. The new rule will be in force from 10 April 2016. Only half the fare needs to be paid for child/children in the age group  if separate seat berth is not required. The parents or caretakers will have to share their reserved space with them in such cases.
From Passenger prospective in order to  reduce expenses, it is obvious that those travelling with children won't reserve separate berths. It means the single long seat for three passengers will have to accommodate more persons which will in turn generate more crowd in compartment
Railways has to carry out the necessary modifications in its software for the change. Once the changes are updated, the passenger will get the option to reserve separate seat or berth for children.
It seems the railway is now focusing more on increasing its revenue and ensuring maximum reserved seats or berths for long-distance travellers,Well this would surely make compartment more crowdy

New Cancellation Charge Revised with effect from 12 Nov 2015


From 12 Nov ,Railways has revised the cancellation charge to

(i). Facilitate passengers with mobile ticketing/proposed paperless ticketing etc.
(ii)   Discourage touts/agents on black marketing of tickets.

(iii)   Automatic refund of fare on e-tickets in case of cancellation of trains (Already implemented w.e.f. 01.07.2015). No TDR filing is required in this case.

Now Current Reservation booking available via online

From  November 12, we can book a railway ticket online 30 minutes prior to the departure of a train.According to Railways it has made changes in its system of preparation of chart, which would now be prepared twice.
 that is First reservation chart would be prepared four hours prior to departure of a train while second will be prepared 30 minutes before the train departs.Booking will be allowed on internet as well as at reservation counters for a particular train, subject to availability of berths, even after the preparation of first reservation chart.
From November 12 railways would ensure that First chart should be prepared 4 haours before the depature of train. This will help passengers to know the status of their ticket and plan their journey well in time.

Have you ever wondered about how the PNR Numbers is generated ,What does these Digit tell you.Let's find out First and foremost these PNR depends upon:  Zone of the Train, w.r.t. starting station of the train

First Digit of PNR represent Zone of Railways for  that is
2,3: NR, NCR, NWR, NER
4,5: SR, SWR, SCR
6,7: NFR, ECR, ER, ECoR, SER, SECR
8,9: CR, WCR, WR
2nd the 3rd Digit
e.g. If a ticket is booked from Mumbai to New Delhi , as the starting station is  Mumbai, PNR will start from 8.The subsequent 2 digits detail specific PRS.Last 7 digit They are randomly generated numbers. They represent no information.PNR number has validity of  minimum 9 month( not sure),but it will remain active as long as you can file TDR .Then there is no data will be availabel for that PNR.After a year, the same PNR number can be generated
e.g. If you book from Kolkata PRS center, it can be 57 (For an example only). For Lucknow, it may be 24.
In Short Let's suppose if the first 3 digits are 857, then it says that the zone is either CR, WCR or WR and the PRS center is Kolkata.

e-wheelchair booking facility started by IRCTC

Indian Railways has started e-wheel chair booking at New Delhi Railways station. Currently this facility is available at New Delhi railways station hope this will extend to other station in near Future.To book wheel chair a user need to navigate to IRCTC website there user need to find e-wheelchair booking option on horizontal menu. E-Wheelchair service facilitate Rail passengers at Nominated Railway Stations in booking wheelchair for sick/old/handicapped/needy passengers.The wheelchair is provided free of charge, depending on the availability on first come first service with booking voucher.Any passenger having valid confirmed/RAC/Partial WL reservation ticket may book the wheelchair through website.No cancellation charges applicable on E-Wheelchair.Passenger may cancel the confirmed wheelchair booking online.

File FIR while Travelling,without Interrupting journey:Call 1512

Delhi Police has launched an all-India 24X7 railway helpline number 1512 .Now Railway passengers  will now be able to report any illegal act observed while travelling in trains instantly and get an FIR registered without interrupting their journey. This Helpline at present covers 28 states and all Union territories.This Trial service was started on May 1 and more than 100 FIRs were successfully registered during the trial.

New Booking and Cancellation Rule for Train Ticket from 1 July 2015



New Rule to be implement in Refund and Ticket booking from 1 July 2015

1) Passengers will have to present their confirmed tickets at least 48 hours before the journey instead of existing 24 hours to get the maximum refund.To get  refund with cancellation charges of 25 percent of the fare, passengers will now have to cancel their confirmed tickets within 48 hours and at least six hours before the train's departure against the existing four hours.

2) Railway is deducting a minimum per passenger cancellation charge at the flat rate of Rs 120 for AC first class/executive class, Rs 100 for AC-II tier/first class, Rs 90 for AC III-tier, economy and chair car, Rs 60 for sleeper class and Rs 30 for second class.

3) If the ticket is presented for cancellation within six hours before the train's scheduled departure of the train and upto two hours after its actual departure, the cancellation charge would be 50 percent of the fare subject to a minimum of the charge.

4) The old rules, which were valid till June 30, allowed the cancellation of the tickets upto 12 hours after the train's departure if the distance was 500 km or more.According to the new rules, no refund will be granted on the reserved ticket if it is surrendered for cancellation two hours after the train's actual departure.

New Rule for Tatkal Ticket Booking and Refund for Confirmed Tatkal Ticket


Booking Timing for  Tatkal tickets in AC and non-AC classes will change from June 15 As of now the booking under Tatkal scheme starts at 10 AM on before 24 hr of  journey from train originating station.
Now This rules is now modified from June 15, timings for booking of Tatkal tickets will be divided for AC and non-AC classes .For AC class booking will start from 10 AM onwards and  and for NON-AC booking will start from 11 AM onwards.
According to Railways this method will reduce load and optimize smooth ticket sale.
Ticket agents including IRCTC agents will now be debarred from booking non-Tatkal tickets for 30 minutes from the opening of bookings, that is from 8 am to 8.30 am for general classes, from 10 am to 10.30 am for Tatkal AC classes, and from 11 am to 11.30 am for Tatkal non-AC classes.
Further Railways is also planing with an idea to provide refund on cancellation of confirmed tatkal tickets, the percentage of which would be calculated based on a time frame.Such Refund would be upto 50%.
The Railways has also relaxed the advance reservation period for Tatkal Special trains.
Railways is in mood to  launch its 'Tatkal Special' train service, travelling on which will be dearer than on normal trains.
Currently, a Tatkal ticket can be booked no more than 24 hours before the journey. But for a Tatkal Special train, advance reservation period is of a minimum 10 days and maximum 60 days.

No More Queue for Unreserverd Ticket : Get Paperless Ticket On SmartPhone


Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today launched a mobile app to book Unreserved tickets from the app via the mobile phone . The app has been named "UTS" . The Centre for Railway Information Systems has made this apps. This app is the Android-based phone that can be downloaded by visiting the Google App Store. After the download, the user will receive an ID number, through which the railway e-wallet(electronic purse) can be created.
User need to  deposit money in e-wallet then user railway unreserved (Anrijrwd) can purchase tickets. This feature  to book unreserved tickets via apps will help to reduce congestion and lines. Refilling of e-wallet can be done at any railways counter or on IRCTC website via debit/credit/Online banking
Through this app, MST (MSTs) also can be renewed. Paperless electronic tickets will be available on the mobile user need  to show the TTE. This feature is the pilot project in Mumbai suburban trains has been introduced. Now it is being made available for general trains. BlackBerry phones app will also available soon.

Prepaid RUPAY card by IRCTC

Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu launched the RUPAY card in assocaition with Union bank,IRCTC and NPCI It is a pre paid card loaded with an amount as when required by the customer and can be used  to purchase a rail ticket and to buy goods and services at ay RUPAY POS terminals. This IRCTC UBI card has 2 variants- loading limit Rs 10000 & loading limit Rs 50000.
some features are:- assured speeds of transaction; quick payments on the IRCTC website; attractive reward points on every transaction; 24x7 card reloading facility.
PHYSICAL CARD :
Plastic magnetic strip card will be issued to the customer. Customer can request for the physical card from IRCTC website, Union Bank website www.unionbankofindia.co.in or from select branches of Union Bank.

Physical card has two variants

a) Partial KYC Physical card
b) Full KYC Physical card

Both Partial KYC Physical card and Full KYC Physical card are valid for three years. There is no renewal of these cards. After expiry period of three years, card holder has to request for new card.
VIRTUAL CARD:
Card credentials such as card no, cvv no. etc are sent to customers email id and using these credentials, customers can book railway tickets.

Virtual card is valid for one year. There is no renewal of these cards. After expiry period of one year, card holder has to request for new card. Customer can request for virtual card from IRTC website www.irctc.co.in or from Union Bank website www.unionbankofindia.co.in
Charges
The first 5 transactions per card every month done on IRCTC for purchase of Railways Tickets will be FREE (no transaction charges) to the customer for the first 6 months only from the date this card is launched for the public.
For every subsequent transaction post the free usage, customer will be charged Rs.10/- per transaction.
After six months (starts from launch date) onward the customer will be charged Rs.10 per transaction including all taxes for every transaction.

At the bottom line I don't understand the use of this card when people are having their bank account with debit card/Internet banking.Further IRCTC has not delacred with this facility which class of people will get benefited? Earlier IRCTC  has started it own Wallet Service which used to store your money for only booking.Let see wheter this service will really attaract the customer.

Indian Railways insurance for your Belongines

Insurance for Luggage on E-ticket for the trip passengers will soon launch a new feature. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism corporation  will insure your passengers. Travelers  can also insure their belongings This will cover insurance  during the trip will cost personal accidents and hospital. The passengers will be compensated with lost luggage. In first phase  this will be implemented in Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express. In this regard, IRCTC will  take feedback from passengers. The whole process may be completed by the end of the plan. The new service will be get started by  June 1 if everything goes well, passenger insurance plan will help the passwger to get compensation of  the stolen goods often get insurance scheme on the basis of complaints. Under the scheme, the passenger e-ticket to pay an additional amount of Rs 25 to get insurance of 2.05 to 10.50 lakh . The feedback from Rajdhani express passwnger it has been found that they want to insure their valuables belongings.To do so IRCTC have  contact the respective insurance companies. This clearly shows that people traveling in Higher class of Train are willing to pay extra to get premium service.

Now Railway Platform Ticket will cost you Rs 10 from 1 April 2015

Indian Railways has find a new way to increase their revenue and reduce rush inside the stations, From 1 April the platform tickets will cost Rs10 .Upto 2012 platforms ticket cost was Rs3 but in 2012 railway budget, the then railway minister Dinesh Trivedi hiked platform ticket rate to Rs5 and now it has been doubled.Hope this will sure minimize the unwanted rush.

Just after three days of budget, the Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu on Monday launched a Web portal and mobile application for users/Passenger to log complaints towards problem faced in using railways service.
Under this service user can log under various category like Bedroll complain,booking of parcel,Food etc.
This complain service is also available as Android Apps ‘Customer This is Complaint-cum-Suggestion’ portal and mobile App can be freely downloaded and used to register and track status of complaints registered on the portal.

Book Concessional Train ticket for Physically Handicap using IRCTC

IRCTC has started a pilot project to provide concessional ticket for Physically handicap people. Under this project now differently able people can book ticket with concessional and use their QUOTA online. Handicap passenger need to carry photo identity card issued by railways which is to be produced for On-Board/Off Board verification during verification. Escort Passenger also need to carry photo identity card mention at the time of booking

Currently this is limited to passengers having ID card issued by Northern Railways.To book the ticket under this QUOTA user has to check the check while searching the train.After feteching train list user have option to select the QUOTA for Physically Handicap. Refer Screen shot.

Train Ticket now on Cash on delivery

Now You  can now book a rail ticket online and get it delivered at home where the payment can be made.
 cash on delivery (CoD) system rail ticketing, IRCTC is for those customers who are reluctant to use their credit or debit cards as well as those who don't have net-banking facility.
One has to just book the ticket online and payments will be made at the time of delivery of tickets

This facility has been launched on pilot basis and the service will be available in more than 200 cities.Customers can book a ticket 5 days prior to commencement of journey. While Rs 40 will be charged for the delivery of each Sleeper Class ticket, Rs 60 will be charged for an AC class ticket.

E-Catering service started by IRCTC on 76 Trains

e-catering service has been started by IRCTC exclusively for passengers travelling in trains without pantry where passenger can book preferred meal through e-catering website as well as through phone and SMS also. The website address is www.ecatering.irctc.co.in and phone numbers are 1800-1034-139 (Toll-free), 0120-4383892-99 (Toll) and SMS MEAL to 139.
This facility can be availed by passengers having valid reservation Confirmed /Waiting List ticket either e-ticket Or ticket taken from reservation window.Currently, this facility is available only in limited number of trains running without pantry car.The services are available from 0600 hrs to 2200 hrs.At present, the minimum order value is Rs. 60 per unit (vendor) per location/station.As of now there are only 76 Trains which is having this facility. List of train is mentioned on www.ecatering.irctc.co.in

 Any passenger having valid confirmed reservation ticket may book the meal through website as well the phone. The trains in which e-catering services are available are also uploaded for information of the passengers. The process of booking is as under: -
Passenger will enter the PNR. Stations list shall appear/display in drop down menu. Passenger may choose the station he/she wishes to book meal on. After which, vendor menu will open along with item prices.Passenger may choose the vendor and the meals to be booked. Prices of meal will be displayed with the meals.On confirmation of booking, e-payment for the transaction is to be made.
On completion of transaction, SMS and email shall be generated and sent to the customer as well as the service provider.The SMS and email shall have the details of the order. The SMS content to passenger shall have an OTP (One Time Password) which will be used for verification by the service provider on the mobile application at the time of delivery of meal
.
In addition to the above SMS and email at the time of booking of meal, SMS and email shall again be forwarded to the passenger 02 hours before the scheduled delivery time at the station for convenience of customer. Further, an email shall also be sent to the passenger 24 hours before the scheduled delivery time at the station.

Customer may cancel the confirmed meal booking online 02 hours prior to the scheduled delivery of meal (Refund of balance amount after deduction of cancellation charges of Rs. 20 per transaction). It can also be cancelled later i.e. within less than 02 hours of delivery time or later. However, no refund shall be made in case order is cancelled within less than 02 hours of delivery time.The process of refund shall take at least 3 days time from the date of cancellation excluding the date of cancelation

If the Passenger do not have Internet access then may book e-catering service by calling 1800-1034-139 (Toll-free), 0120-4383892-99 (Toll) for waitlisted as well as confirmed ticket. The booking shall be made by the call center executive and subsequently, the passenger shall be informed of confirmed meal booking through SMS and email.

Features of Premium Special Train on Dynamic Pricing


• Premium special train is being introduced from Railway with dynamic fare pricing.
• Dynamic fare stands for the fare component which may be increased with the subsequent bookings.
• Advance Reservation Period (ARP) of this train will be a maximum of 15 days.
• Agents will not be allowed to book tickets in these trains.
• Dynamic fare shall be charged for confirm as well as RAC passengers.
• Waitlist Ticket Booking is not allowed in this train.
• Upgradation option shall not be applicable in this train.
• Modification is not allowed.
• Only E-tickets will be permitted for booking.
• I-ticket Booking is not allowed in this train.
• E-ticket booking is allowed in General Quota only.
• Tatkal/ Ladies/Other Quota tickets cannot be booked in this train.
• No concession shall be applicable in this train.
• Identity card number of the prescribed proof of identity is required at the time of booking. At least
one passenger should travel with his/her ID card in original which was used at the time of booking.
• Vacant berths left at the time of charting will be offered for current booking at current booking
counters of train originating stations.
• Cancellation is not allowed. However, ticket can be cancelled only if the train is cancelled.
• Dynamic Fare along with Total fare will be displayed after filling Reservation form. Users must ensure the Fare and Journey Details before proceeding for payment.

Know about Current Reservation

Plan to go somewhere to train and suddenly  you not able to get confirm ticket of the rail. Or do not get  confirmed ticket after the chart is created. So you have to travel by train to stand or give bribe. Did that ever happen to you so do not be afraid. Yes, You can get confirm ticket( if avalilable) upto 10 minute before the departure.
before the train depart from status and after chart preparation there is option to get confirm ticket Under this rule,ticket can be optained from  ticket counter at most stations.This facility is avalaible on most of station. The purpose of the current reseravation is to fill the vaccant seat after chart preparation so that should not be empty seats on the train.

To get current reseatvation you have to fill the researaction from and submit to reseravation counter. Normally current reseavation open after chart is prepared.
